The company behind some of the world's fastest electric vehicles is bringing high-tech e-bikes to the United States.
Established carmakers such as BMW, Audi and Ford have entered the micro-mobile game with electric bikes and scooters. Now boutique carmakers are getting in on the act.
Greyp- pronounced "grape "- is a new electric bicycle company, due to be split off from The Croatian automobile manufacturer Rimac Automobili, which makes limited production of high-performance electric sports cars. Rimac says its latest creation, the C Two, has more than 1,900 horsepower, a top speed of 258 MPH and a time of 1.85 seconds between 0 and 60 MPH.
So it's no surprise that when Rimac decided to build an electric bike, it went a little too far. The G6 mountain bike line, which the company recently said would be available in the U.S., is packed with technology -- including GPS, Internet connectivity, heart rate monitors, dual motion cameras and other gadgets.
